The Voltas all weather AC ad is really good as it hits two birds with one stone – Humour and usefulness. With this ad, Voltas is able to show both – the potential of their air conditioners as well as a humourous twist which keeps the viewers hooked on. The sweet and bitter relation between the son in law and father in law is a fresh change from the typical quarrels of Mother in law and daughter in law. It is good to see that Voltas is targeting the men of the house because ultimately they are the ones who decide the purchasing of white goods like television and air conditioners. Thus the target audience is spot on.
There are three different ads in the Voltas all weather AC series. The three ads focus on the different abilities of the Voltas all weather AC. The first ad focuses on the ability of Voltas all weather AC to maintain a warm temperature even in cold climate – which is not something that each AC can do.
Similarly, in Chennai the AC can give cooling in hot climates with high humidity levels. Finally in Delhi, the AC is able to give cooling even though the weather is very dry and hot. Thus, in any of the case, the Voltas all weather AC is the answer to satisfy the inspection by the father in law.
The Storyline – The father in law has come to visit his daughter and while entering the house, the voice over by the son in law makes it clear that he is going to be analysed and inspected by his father in law. The father in law finds faults in various things and finally comments on the weather in all the 3 ads. Our hero realizes that he has a chance to impress and showcases his Voltas all weather AC. The father in law loves the AC but never once appreciates the son in law for his choice. Thus in the end, the father in law and the son in law are still on with their “Tu Tu main main”
The good – Different themes and different settings to showcase all the features of Voltas all weather AC. The touch of humor which gives the ad a good recall value.
The bad – Nothing much. Couldnt find much wrong with the ad.
