Faced with a sever drop in sales for Nano, Tata motors has now decided to give a warranty of 4 years or 60,000 kilometers to Nano owners. Its previous warranty was 18 months or 24000 kilometers.
“The Tata Nano will now come with a 4-year/60,000 km (whichever is earlier) manufacturer’s warranty, at no extra cost. Besides being applicable on new deliveries, the warranty is also being extended to all existing owners of the car,” the company said in a statement.
The company said all new Nano customers will have an option to avail a “comprehensive maintenance contract” at Rs 99 per month.
Tata motors had also previously asked Nano buyers to bring back their cars to get some more safety devices added. In August, a sixth Nano caught fire and since then the sales has been dropping considerably. This might be a delayed step taken by Tata to boost the sales of Nano.
