Reliance uses comparative advertising to market 3G

Reliance 3G is thankfully coming out with pretty good advertising strategies nowadays. And the best part is it is directly taking on its competitors rather then showing fuzzy images and an unintelligible background score.

Have a look at the above ad. This ad released couple of weeks earlier shows two friends downloading games with Reliance 3G. One of the friend shouts that he has completed his download. But heres the surprise. The other friend has already downloaded, started playing and reached the 7th  level of the game. Sounds a bit unachievable. Especially since its reliance. But the ad is executed quite well and does have a good recall value.

This ad plays on the core Reliance strength –  Pricing. The whole ad plays sluggishly. You know there’s a punch line to come. But you just cant wait for it as the as does get a bit irritating in the middle (especially if you are watching it again and again on TV). But then the punch line induces you to think. A reliance 3g tab at 12999 rs only!!! Well, get your credit card out.

Both of the ads are spot on. The first one has a better recall value whereas the other ad is better on inducing action. The onus is now on Reliance 3G as a product. Reliance is known to over promise and under perform –  one of the worst places you wanna be. Thus hope this one time, Reliance performs as it promises.
