5 ways to market yourself at your workplace

So you are one of those employees who want to stand apart and market yourself to your bosses, your colleagues and even the xerox girl if you can. Well here are some tricks which im trying and which might help you in the long run.

1) Stay cool – Always!!!. The first rule to marketing yourself to your colleague and your bosses is to always play it cool. Even if you have a sworn enemy at your workplace, do not give in to your temper.

2) Work Smart but Work hard too – A misinterpretation of the words “Work smart” is that several people believe in extracting work from others through devious means rather than working themselves. Heres a correction for you. Helping others at the workplace too is a part of “Working smart”.

Cant wait to get your hands on it? Well, either you will have to shift to Karnataka or you will have to wait till March as Airtel plans to launch 3G in 13 different locations by March end. There are 22 locations in total for 3g in India and Airtel has rights for 13 of them.

Bajaj plans expansion – will add 130 more dealers

Bajaj has delivered one of the best two wheelers of the countries – Bajaj pulsar. And now Bajaj plans to leverage the confidence it is gaining from customers by expanding and adding 130 more dealers to its channel.

Bajaj also has ambitious targets as it plans to bring in these 130 dealers within a span of 4 months whereas adding 130 dealers is a job of at least a year. Thus 7000 new jobs will be created because of the moves being made by Bajaj.

Jet fuel prices go up by 2%, might affect airfares

The Aviation turbine fuel (ATF) cost have further increased by 2%. As a result 2 top airliners, Jet Airways and Kingfisher airlines are hinting at an increase in Airfare prices.

Airfares and pricing in case of airlines is decided by the corporation itself and the government seldom intervenes unless the hike is unwanted. As the ATF has increased in price by governments decision itself, airlines might not be left with much of an option but to increase prices to match topline with bottomline.

Blue Star to extend its AC’s to residential segment

Air conditioning and commercial refrigeration company Blue Star Ltd announced that it will try to expand in residential segments in the coming summer quarter.

“The residential air conditioning market has been on a fast-growth path. We are confident that with our credentials and expertise, we will be able to garner a significant market share in this segment,” B Thiagarajan, Blue Star’s President, Air conditioning and Refrigeration Products Group.

Google co founder Larry Page has taken over CEO Eric Schmidt in a surprise move. The grapevine is ripe that the step was taken mainly because of the losses google might have suffered due to failed forays in the world of social networking and the advertising revenue lost due to it.

Larry page is a part of the technological roots of google along with Sergey brin (The inventors of google). CEO Eric Schmidt will now take the role of executive chairman. Sergey Brin is currently in the strategic projects division. Whereas Larry page will now take up the mantle.

BP brand feels spill

On 20 April 2010 an explosion on the Deepwater Horizon drilling rig killed 11 men and sent millions of gallons of oil gushing into the Gulf of Mexico. To label the fiasco a “marketing mishap” doesn’t do justice to the huge environmental and human cost of the disaster, but there is no doubt that the reputation of Britain’s biggest company was irrevocably damaged. At the time of writing, more than 11,000 people continue to work on clean-up operations in the area. An official update in October revealed that 93 miles of shoreline were still suffering “moderate-to-heavy” oil pollution and 7% of the Gulf’s fishing area remained shut. The saga is set to continue in 2011 when the outcomes of two federal investigations are due.
