Storyboard of the ad – Some engineers as well as builders are on the top of a hill and a lake is shown in the background. They are trying to build a new planned city. One of the builder suggests some modifications which requires the lake to be uphill. The engineer is stammered about how he will achieve this task. And another builder says – call Kirloskar.
Wonderful!! I guess not many people would notice this but Kirloskar is actually encouraging builders to tamper with the environment. Shifting the lake just where the builder wishes it to be.
Definitely planned cities are on the rise and India needs it. But this just passes on a message that Indian environment is for the keeps and any builder can tamper with it.
Agreed Kirloskar is a great company. Agreed we need more planning in our cities. But it does not give the right to Kirloskar to negatively educate the masses. Shifting a lake!!

The author does not seem to have watched the commercial carefully. It’s about ‘shifting the lake up’ for the ‘Hydel Power Plant’ which is known to be the environment-friendly source of power. I do not understand how Kirloskar is “encouraging builders to tamper with the environment” ? Kirloskar here is actually helping the environment by creating eco-friendly source of power by helping put up a hydel power plant where it’s seemingly impossible
Dear Aniruddha. This post of mine was with a focus on the builder lobby of India. As we know they are prone to breaking rules. Recently too, several people have requested for a regulatory body for the real estate sector. We know builders are used to breaking rules and thats what has been shown here by changing the location of the lake
i . As far as “watching the commercial goes” Its a point of view
urs is different, mine is different though we both watched the same commercial
The ad clearly shows how easy it is to play ‘GOD’ by shifting a lake from a lower level to a higher hill top. This terribly uninformed ad and ad company who is trying to help promote Kirloskar has no idea of the extent of ecological damage they are about to create.
The lake and other water bodies are connected systems and water will continue to collect in the asame space due to the contours, valleys and drains that lead to it as of today. If the foolish builder puts up buildings after clearing out the lake, his development will be flooded in no time, especially in monsoons! The entire landscape of mountains and hills cannot be engineered to suit such stupid motives. Kirloskar, wake up and do not promote yourself with such silly ads!!!
