Well, Everyone’s raving about this ad. And why not. If there were quarterly oscars for ads, i m sure they would be won by Honda’s “Hum men hai hero” and now by Airtel for “Harr ek friend zaroori hota hai”
Primarily targeted towards youngsters, the ad comes as a fresh breath of air as it does not get into just advertising features of Airtel but rather it promotes values on a much wider aspect. For the past 1 year, each and every telecom company has been trying to promote their own features and products (which is necessary) but none of them have been able to really build up on recall value.
However in the past quarter itself we have seen some amazing ads. Vodafone created the “Borrow from your friend” campaign. That too was targeted towards product advertising but at least it brought in the common public and was closer to our hearts. Micromax brought in Akshay Kumar wherein he acts as a dentist. That ad was fantastic and for me it is the most recalled ad of Micromax. I hardly remember any other ads of Micromax.
And now Airtel comes out with this amazing ad which touches everyone’s heart. College days!! who doesn’t remember them. The days are filled with fun and mischief. And that is exactly what is shown in the ad. Some friends wanna ignore their girlfriends, some have to be saved from the police, some wear the same shirt and look at each other consciously. Well that happens to everybody and that’s why everyone is loving it.
What this ad has done is that it has got the viewers talking, networking and sharing about airtels ad. Airtel which was out of the public eye for a while again gains some space in peoples heart. I do wish that they should have launched this ad on friendship’s day (1st Sunday of august) But then again, whenever it would have launched, it would have stood apart from the crowd.
If you like this review then do share it. Kyunki harr ek friend zaroori hota hai
